Old Hall is over 200
years old and is home to Mark, Sandra, their son Corban and their pets.
Old Hall Cottage is our newly renovated holiday accommodation which is
set in the large grounds of Old Hall, located at the South end of Hoy,
close to the pretty Kirkhope Bay.
The accommodation sleeps up to 6 people. There are two bedrooms, one
double with suitable wheelchair access and one triple (double bed with a
single bunk), plus a sofa bed in the lounge area.
There's a fully equipped kitchen/lounge room including: gas hob,
electric combination oven/microwave, fridge with freezer, comfy sofas,
digital freeview TV, DVD player and DVD's, a CD player and plenty of
books and games. The spacious bathroom has a level entry shower and
support rails for disabled access
You are welcome to
spend time in our large garden, which has quiet seating areas and
panoramic views over the Scapa Flow and across the Pentland Firth to
Scotland.
Enjoy playing games on our large lawns, or simply enjoy the flower beds,
rockeries and the small pond. The 'Mediterranean Corner' is ideal for
summer barbeques and relaxing. You are also welcome to take fruit, veg
and herbs from our organic plot for your needs during your stay.
In winter, Hoy is just as beautiful with plenty to do and a warm, cosy
cottage to come back to snuggle up and read, watch a movie or gaze at
the unpolluted, bright night sky and you may be lucky enough to see the
awesome Northern Lights
We have plenty of
storage for your cycles, fishing tackle etc and a drying room for wet
gear. We are very pet friendly and your pets are welcome free of
charge. We have two dogs and a cat or our own who are happy to share
their garden. There is a maximum of two guest pets allowed. Conditions

Welcome to Burnside
Farm where Robbie, Joy and their family work their Dairy Farm. It
supplies milk which goes to make Orkney Mature Cheese.
Come and stay with us
and enjoy luxurious facilities, seclusion and home baking, all within a
10 minute stroll from Stromness town centre
We have three double rooms available. Two of these have spacious
ensuite facilities. The other room has it's own private facilities.
One
of the rooms can be converted to have 2 single beds.
We use Egyptian cotton sheets and silk duvets, for smooth warmth.
Towelling robes are also provided.
Our rooms are freshly
decorated in keeping with the 1950s style of Burnside Farmhouse. You can
sit at an original vanity table and watch the farm-life in the
foreground, with the most scenic background you can imagine. Each season
brings different light to the land and seascape: you'll want to
experience each time of year from the comfort of our farm.
In your room you'll
find Freeview televisions, with DVD players. There is a selection of
DVDs you can borrow - just ask Joy or Robbie. You'll also find a
hairdryer, kettle, cups and hot drinks. If you enjoyed the complimentary
Afternoon Tea on arrival, you can ask for further cakes and homebakes.
Breakfast is served in our beautiful and spacious porch: it enjoys
panoramic views across Scapa Flow towards Hoy. You can sit here at any
time of the |
