INVERCHANDLICK

(Close to River Dee overlooking Braemar Castle)

Braemar - Royal Deeside

Tel: +44 (0)1381 610496

Situated in a stunning south-facing location close to the River Dee, and overlooking Braemar Castle and the Grampian Mountains, Inverchandlick has been renovated and refurbished to provide self-catering accommodation for up to six people. This former ferryman's cottage is approached by a long, private track through Invercauld Estate: whilst 4x4s are not essential, sports-type cars are not recommended, and in the winter access can be difficult due to snow

The area is at the very heart of the Cairngorms National Park and is perfect for enjoying a wide variety of pursuits, from historic castle visits and touring through the magnificent Deeside scenery, to many outdoor activities for the more energetic: walking, skiing, golfing and fishing all being within close range. Salmon fishing in season is available in the pools directly in front of the cottage and is included in the rental, and more information about fishing on the Dee can be found on www.fishdee.co.uk. Wildlife, including deer, red squirrels, and grouse, abounds and can be seen regularly from the cottage

The picturesque villages of Braemar, Ballater and Aboyne are ideal for a little gentle shopping in the many unusual gift shops and galleries, and most of the restaurants remain open throughout the year

Web: www.norsehaven.com

Email: info@norsehaven.com

Take a voyage north to the breathtaking, rugged scenery of Sutherland in the far north-west of Scotland. It was the Vikings who gave the county of Sutherland its name & true to their Norse ancestry, the original settlers loved to pass on stories, and there is hardly a hill, loch or bay in the area which does not boast its own ghost or legend. Although we have not so far met any of these spectral residents, we have witnessed the breathtaking Northern Lights, and joined in when locals stopped work to watch whales playing in the waters beneath the cliffs. Perhaps you too will be lucky …

To explore beautiful Sutherland you need somewhere lovely to stay.  Craigmor (sleeps 8) and Cranstackie (sleeps 4) lie in the village of Durness, a thriving crofting community surrounded by magnificent mountains, a rugged coastline and wide unpolluted beaches. Ceannabeinne (sleeps 4) is just a few minutes drive along the coast from the village overlooking a beautiful beach

With magnificent mountains, a rugged coastline and wide unpolluted beaches... Sutherland is the perfect self catering holiday destination.

The area offers: Superb hill and mountain walking - Salmon, trout and sea fishing - An abundance of hill lochs - Magnificent, unpolluted beaches - Nine-hole golf links - Welcoming pubs and restaurants
